Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is a newer available safety package that combines Pre-Collision System, Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Auto High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Combining these features can help increase your awareness as a safe driver.
Preventing or Mitigating Frontal Collisions
Pre-Collision System (PCS) uses a forward-facing radar and camera to help avoid potential collisions by detecting them and then alerting you both audibly and visually. If you’re not able to apply the brakes in time, and PCS determines the collision is inevitable, the system will apply the brakes automatically – mitigating the impact.
Pedestrian Detection (PD) is similar to PCS in that it can detect pedestrians (under certain conditions), alert you audibly and visually, and apply the brakes if you don’t react.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) uses the same radar and camera to detect the speed and distance of the vehicle in front of you. It can adjust your speed accordingly in certain situations, maintain a preset following distance, then accelerate back to your original cruising speed when the coast is clear.
Keeping Drivers in their Lane
Lane Departure Alert (LDA) alerts you audibly and visually if you start to stray from your lane using a camera that can detect the painted lines on the road. You can then take the proper actions to getting back on track.
Nighttime Driving Assistance
Auto High Beams (AHB) uses a camera to detect the headlights of oncoming traffic. When the system detects another vehicle, AHB will automatically switch to low beams. Once the vehicle passes, AHB will switch back to high beams.
None of these active safety features are meant to replace driver attentiveness and decision-making, but to enhance them – creating safer roads for everyone.

2016 Prius Offers Available Enhanced Parking Support
The 2016 Toyota Prius is raising the bar for hybrid vehicles with its new look and awesome features. One of those is enhanced parking support, which is made up of available Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS) and available Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA).
ICS scans for objects like other vehicles when Prius is parking or pulling out of a space. The system will emanate an alert, reduce engine/motor output, and apply the brakes if it expects a collision.
IPA can help guide you into a parking space and will even automatically control the steering! This is especially useful for parallel parking or for squeezing into tight spaces like in parking ramps.

Redesigned 2016 Toyota RAV4 Review (Video)
There are some new looks and features for the 2016 Toyota RAV4 this model year. On the exterior, the front grille is more chiseled giving the SUV a more dynamic look. The wheels are a different style and size depending on which of the four trim levels you choose.

Bird’s Eye View Camera Available on new RAV4s
