Qi Technology, Wireless Charging, Available in 2015 Toyota Models

With Toyota’s new wireless charging stations that utilize Qi (pronounced “chee”) technology, available in select Toyota vehicles, including the 2015 Toyota Camry and the Toyota Avalon. You can charge your phone while leaving the messy wires at home.

New on Toyota vehicles is a wireless charging platform embedded into the dashboard. Place your Qi-compatible phone onto the pad and presto! Your phone begins charging like magic! However, it’s electricity and not magic that makes this wireless charging happen. It’s called inductive charging, and it works by sending electrical currents through a coiled wire inside the pad to a similar wire inside your Qi-compatible phone. You can find out if your phone is Qi compatible by contacting your cellular provider.
